Since 2008 we have trained organisations small[i], medium and large[ii] to deliver measurable reductions[iii] in Euro, kWh and CO2.

Our training centres around climate action

  • Ireland burns over €1m per hour in imported fossil fuels.
  • CSRD is driving your customers to demand CO2 data and reductions.
  • Science and Irish law[iv] tell us we need a 50% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030.

How will your business thrive in this changed environment?

Burning fossil fuels costs money, since Russia’s second invasion of Ukraine in 2022, our energy prices have doubled. How has your business reduced its energy use since?

How will you sustain those changes and drop fossil fuels from your business model? Reducing your fossil use by 50% by 2030 will put you on track to net zero.

These are urgent challenges and each business is different. Simple solutions are attractive but can waste hard earned capital on ‘quick fixes’.

With over 20 years’ experience, AEMS can train your team to tackle the ‘greatest business opportunity in history’[v] in the time they have available, whilst securing available funding, and in due course recognising their success[vi] in Euro, kWh and CO2.

Our approach

Highly interactive online and in person training.  See what our clients say at https://aems.ie/clientscomments/

We use Slido, chat questions and breaks every 45-50 mins to post useful links and answers posed during each online session.

In transport the global best practice is to avoid, shift and improve performance then invest. In wider business we find these 5 broad steps a good place to start on climate action.

  • Literacy: Get up to speed on legal and societal changes, terms and units.
  • Report: Collate your kWh, calculate CO2 (scope1 & 2), start / plan scope 3
  • Reduce: Energy Efficiency first[vii], as you save energy invest in renewables
  • Procure: Using GPP and EPDs. Bring your suppliers with you – collaborate.
  • Reward: Calculate your internal savings, collect your EEOS € bonuses (annually)

Too good to be true? Often said, but raising the invoice for EEOS payment has proven far more credible and sustainable than any award or photo opportunity (to date).

[i] In 2007 we were asked to create Transport EnergyMAP by SEAI which we delivered 2008-2012 online and in person, engaging small and medium sized transport operators. In 2008 we helped develop SEAI’s Energy Management Training which is still going today.

[ii] As contributors to ISO50001 we have been training medium and large sized companies to implement it.  Matthews Coaches were the second transport operator globally to achieve 50001 certifications in 2012. Since then, we have trained companies as diverse as Sisk Construction, Dept of Transport, Bus Eireann and many others to deliver measurable reductions in energy use using ISO50001.

[iii] In 2012 we were asked to compile a database of energy savings opportunities for transport, this was use d by the EEOS to deliver substantial energy efficiency savings 2014-2024 more details at https://aems.ie/blog/can-training-deliver-measured-ghg-savings/

[iv] Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Act 2021; enacted Friday 23rd July 2021

Establishes a 2050 emissions target of net zero in law, we must reduce GHG by 51% to 2030 (vs 2018) to get on track to net zero by 2050. Govt Ministers are responsible for achieving the legally binding targets in the annually revised Climate Action Plan. This is enforceable in the courts https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/high-court-rules-an-bord-pleanala-must-prioritise-climate-law-in-wind-farm-case-likely-to-affect-all-public-bodies/a294141249.html

[v] Widely attributed to Sir Richard Branson talking about sustainability. No direct quote exists, and numerous business leaders have echoed this sentiment since. Nonetheless the circular economy future arising from our need to get off fossil fuels opens enormous opportunity for businesses large and small.

[vi] Under the Energy Efficiency Obligation Scheme or EEOS, businesses are paid a bonus annually for their energy efficiency savings in kWh see https://aems.ie/blog/can-training-deliver-measured-ghg-savings/

[vii] EU EED 2023 Article 3 puts energy efficiency first – will be transposed to Irish Law summer 2025.
