This excel tool developed by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) is designed to assist organisations evaluate the benefits of retrofitting six types of T8 rated fluorescent fittings and conventional ballasts with High Frequency T5 rated fittings and electronic ballasts and controls.
The methodologies used in the calculation engine are based on the EMEEES1 approach and a number of lighting design software2 tools. Two calculation outputs are possible: Energy Savings Calculator – to provide an estimate of energy savings, and a Payback Calculator – to provide a simple payback period for each retrofit option and an average payback period for all retrofits.
